Bicyclist & Pedestrian Awareness Month in Virginia

October is designated as Bicyclist and Pedestrian Awareness Month (BPAM) in Virginia. BPAM is a great opportunity to opportunity to remind citizens that bicyclists, motorists, and pedestrians have reciprocal rights and responsibilities while traveling on the roadways of Virginia. Safety on the road depends on mutual respect.

RideFinders is partnering with Drive Smart Virginia to promote the month by providing safety tips and information. See and be seen and safe when commuting by bike or when walking. Use flashing lights and/or reflectors on the front and rear of your bike, use flashlights, and wear brightly colored clothing. Drivers should pass at a reasonable speed and at least three feet when passing a bicyclist and avoid distractions so they can safely share the road.
