RideFinders Wins Award of Merit from the Richmond Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America

RideFinders is the proud recipient of an Award of Merit, Commonwealth Award: Shoe String Budget (Campaign $5,000 or less), from the Richmond Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America for the "Celebrate Earth Day, Every Day" Clean Air Campaign. The Commonwealth Award recognizes exceptional public relations programs or campaigns and specifically, the Shoe String Budget award honors the most creative and effective campaigns planned, implemented, and executed for less than $5,000 (not including employee salary).

The ”Celebrate Earth Day, Every Day” Clean Air Campaign maximized the focus on “green” commuting – teleworking, walking and biking- and “green” environmental actions such as recycling, waste management and garden maintenance as healthy and sustainable habits. The social media content showcased RideFinders staff as relatable by demonstrating that they indeed practiced what they preached.

This campaign yielded the following results:

  • Developed the signature series, “VISITS with Von” and “We Read Wednesdays”. Video created in-house at no costs.
  • Promoted Caring Commutes, an initiative that simply asked registered database clients to record their telework days every day that they worked from home during the month of May 2020. A $500 donation was made to Feed More on behalf of RideFinders when 500 telework "trips" were recorded.
  • Developed partnerships with Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA), The Bicycle Guys, Clean Air Partners, Bellemeade Community Center and Drive Smart Virginia.
  • Garnered 65,747 total impressions* across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram representing a 31% increase over goal; increased Facebook reach* by 77% and Instagram reach by 35%.

This marks the fourth award RideFinders has won for this campaign. The other awards won were: 2021 Best National Best Social Media Marketing Award category (Marketing and Outreach) from the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT), 2021 Communitas Leadership Award, Community Service and Corporate Social Responsibility Category, and the 2020 Best Online/Social Media Marketing Campaign from the Chesapeake Chapter of ACT.
